I moved from Chicago to LA with one goal in mind, to graduate from ULA.

It was one of the best law schools in America and I only had one year left

until graduation.

It was very challenging.

Between preparing for my finals and my unpaid internship at Wakefield and Meyer,

I had no time for myself and it was really hard to get by.

But I was determined to succeed.

Getting an internship at a prestigious law firm in LA was the best way to find a job after graduation.

I was trying really hard to be competitive against the other interns,

but it was so stressful.

Living in Los Angeles was very expensive, so I got a roommate to split the rent with.

Kate was clean, organized, and she was almost never home, which was perfect.

I knew her parents didn't have a lot of money, but she was constantly coming home

with a bunch of expensive stuff.

She definitely never seemed to be stressed about money or school, like me.

I hated being broke.

Every month there was always some sort of unexpected expense, like an extra book

or a parking ticket that would put me right over the edge financially.

Hey Lana, how's it going?

Not good. These bills are killing me.

My cell phone bill's like double what it was last month.

I'm so sorry, that sucks.
